There’s nothing I love quite as much as a good weekend getaway in your own city–no flights, no missing home, no worries. The other weekend, Will and I decided to wake up early and drive out to Tiburon, where we caught the ferry to Angel Island.
Neither of us had ever been to Angel Island before and were totally fascinated by its history (it used to be an immigration station) & panoramic views of the Bay.
It’s no secret that I love doing laundry, and I’ve even written about tips to making it more fun. Even though it can be a big chore on your to-do list each week, in my opinion there’s no better feeling than an empty hamper and a closet full of all your favorite clean clothes.
Because I do laundry about twice a week–once for darks and once for lights–and wash both my and my boyfriend’s clothes, it was super important to me to find a detergent that complimented both of us. I was searching for something with a light, gender neutral smell and ingredients that wouldn’t wear out our clothes.
One day as I was perusing the aisles of Whole Foods, I stumbled across Ecover’s lavender field laundry detergent and immediately loved the smell. I’ve now been using it for a few weeks and am super pleased with the results, so it might just stick around for a while.

Last week, I shared this little peek into the girls’ night I hosted, and now I’m back to share the full scoop.
“What’s girls’ night?”, you may be asking yourself. Well, in my book, it’s a night involving the girliest of items–from face masks and nail polish to rosé and macarons. I invited all of my closest girlfriends over, stocked the fridge with wine, and set out the prettiest flowers I could find.
Here’s a look into all of the details:
Face masks, eye treatments, and nail polish in the living room.
Homemade apple cider.
Cheese and accoutrement for snacking.
Wine glasses at the ready.
Told you I got pretty flowers.
One last look because it was just so pretty.
Stumbled upon the coolest retro bar in the Mission.
If this isn’t the best photo op you’ve ever seen, I want to know what is.
Bright flowers on my dining room table making me happy this week.
Big accomplishment: my collection of matches reaching the brim of the bowl.
Things are looking up.
There’s just something about a home covered in ivy branches that makes me want to find an all-white home and plant ivy all around it immediately. Until that day, I’m making a mental note and keeping this on my wish list for my future home.
