1 Nightstand, 3 Ways

I’m constantly playing with unique ways to style my apartment (hence why I am constantly posting design refreshes), which is precisely why these little design challenges are so fun for me. Since I’ve already done my dining and coffee tables, next up was naturally my bedside table. Without further adieu, here are 3 different ways to style a nightstand.

Nightstand 1:  Fresh flowers? Check. Deliciously scented candles? Check and check. Simple bedtime reads? Check. I love how this variation has just about everything you need on your nightstand but doesn’t look cluttered at all.

Nightstand 2: I don’t know about you, but I hate sleeping in jewelry, no matter how dainty the ring. I love that this styling variation has a little tray for jewelry to go at night, plus the addition of a crystal to promote calming energy.

Nightstand 3: I suppose you could call this nightstand the perfect marriage between the first two—beautiful flowers, bedtime reads, and calming geodes.

Wish List: Vintage Quilt

As someone who loves nothing more than crisp white bedding (as seen in my bedroom here), I’m actually really liking the look of a vintage quilt. I love the unexpected pop it creates, especially when placed at the foot of the bed.

I still don’t know if I’m ready to abandon my all white look, but I’m putting this one on my wish list regardless. Who knows, maybe it can be inspiration for a guest bedroom someday!

Happy National Make the Bed Day!

First Image

Bet you didn’t know it was National Making the Bed Day, did ya? Well, that’s why you have me! In honor of this truly sacred holiday, I’ve outlined some simple steps you can follow to make sure your bed looks beautiful today and everyday.

Step 1: Start with your base. Though it may be faster to just cover wrinkled up sheets with the duvet, you’ll be so much happier if you take the time to straighten out the sheets.

Step 2: Cover the sheets with your duvet. Pay close attention here to where it hangs on each side, as to be sure it is evenly dispersed.

Step 3: If you have another blanket that you place at the edge of the bed – I’d highly recommend getting one if you don’t already! – then here is when you should place it over your duvet. Again, be mindful of where it hangs on each side. IMG_4536IMG_4540

Step 4: Place the pillows. I like to start with my biggest pillows and then move to my sleeping pillows, and finally my throw pillows. I know, I know, I have a lot of pillows! IMG_4546

Step 5: Once my bed is all made, I like to spray a little bit of my favorite scent, red currant by Votivo. It makes my whole room smell delicious and lasts throughout the day.

P.S. Remember that even something so small as making the bed can be a great way to start your day on a positive, productive note.

The Tidiest Corner

First Image

When I was back home in Los Angeles the other week, I was reminded of the days when I first started this blog. The days when I was working to come up with the name, the theme, the schedule, and many, many more behind the scenes details.

Though there are many tidy corners, this is the original tidy corner and will always feel that way. The plush bedding, multitude of pillows, accessorized nightstand, pretty corner chair. My tidy corner.
