Winter Weekends

As someone who loves nothing more than to adventure on weekends, settling into the cold reality of winter can be tough. It’s bad enough having to venture out into the rain on a workday, but to wake up to it on a weekend can be crushing. To cheer myself up and ensure that I’m just as fulfilled during winter as I am during the warmer months, I created a list of weekend activities that can be done regardless of the weather. Hope you find it helpful, too!

  1. Make a big pot of chili or soup
  2. Visit a museum
  3. See a movie, or even two (I’ve been known to spend all day in the movie theater come Oscars season)
  4. Stay in pajamas while organizing the house
  5. Watch back-to-back episodes of Friends on the couch
  6. Treat yourself to a spa day
  7. Invite friends over for a night in
  8. Order food to-go from your favorite restaurant and enjoy it in the warmth of your own home
  9. Catch up on all of the month’s fashion magazines
  10. Take a long bath while listening to your favorite music

What’s your go-to winter weekend activity? Let me know in the comments!

How to Store Winter Necessities

Remember when I shared one of my core organizing rules that everything must have a home? Well, sometimes that home needs to be customized depending on the season, and that’s totally ok!

Since I’m constantly reaching for warm accessories these days—think mittens, scarves, beanies, and the like— I decided to make a dedicated spot in my closet to keep them all within arm’s reach. While I usually use the hooks in this closet to plan out my outfits for the week, I conveniently have another set in my other closet that I’ve been using for that very same purpose. With the hooks in this closet now freed up, I’ve been loving being able to easily grab some warm winter accessories whenever I may need them.

A Sunny Winter

During the holidays, I took a week off work to spend time with family friends in Los Angeles and Santa Barbara. Going home for an extended period of time is always so restorative for me—especially when the sun is shining.

Here’s a look into some of my favorite photos (and memories!) that I snapped while home.

Winter Wardrobe

It’s officially, officially cold in the Bay Area now, and that means no more pretending I can get away with light layers and open-toed shoes. Here’s what I’ll be wearing this season—advance warning: expect nothing but black, gray, and cream.

Stumbled upon this incredible swing overlooking the Bay in Marin, and now I want to come back here every single weekend.
